Dear Harrison Hills Parents, Students, Community Members, and Staff:
Thank you to the voters of Harrison County for your support in the passage of the bond issue to build a new PK-12 school complex. This facility will be over 193,000 square feet and will have separate wings for elementary, middle and high school students. The new facility will have 21st. century science labs, interactive technology, and collaborative classroom layouts. The new facility will open by fall 2019 and promote opportunities for our children to pursue exciting and challenging educational experiences.
The Harrison Hills City School District staff is dedicated to enkindling in our students a desire and passion for lifelong learning. A highly motivated and committed team of administrators, teachers and staff eagerly work collaboratively to spark your children’s intellectual curiosity and individualize instruction to meet their diverse learning needs. We have taken great strides to provide all students with an individual technology device. The students in grades seven to twelve each have a Chromebook for school and home use. Students in grades first through sixth each have an IPad. Teachers are providing many interactive lessons through these devices which allows our students to connect with information and people from across the world.
Harrison Hills City School District has been successful in securing numerous grants. The district secured a Healthy Students/Safe Schools grant that is providing student counseling and intervention services. The grant also has allowed the district to hire a Truancy Preventionist. These services promote school and home communication and with a desired end result of increased student achievement. Through community partnerships with the Sheriff’s office the district has two resource officers and the Juvenile Courts grant provides the district with a social educator. Harrison Central and Harrison East Elementary both have a 21st. Century After School Learning program where students are provided homework completion time, tutoring, character building, and enrichment activities.
Thank you for your continued support of our school and staff; most importantly thank you for trusting Harrison Hills in providing a strong educational environment for your children.
Sincerely,
Dana L. Snider
